A Natural Approach to Back Pain

Great Falls Natural Approaches to Back Pain with Chiropractic Therapy

Chiropractic is based on the concept of aiding your body to naturally heal through spinal adjustments and lifestyle changes that stimulate overall health. For Dr. Six, this involves working hard to reestablish your body's healthy functioning to prevent the need for medications or surgical treatments. We see that most of our Great Falls patients are relieved to find a natural approach for their health problems.

One advantage of chiropractic treatment is that it helps people decrease or eliminate the use of drugs. Prescription medications are oftentimes supplied to people who have back problems. This is such a serious crisis that the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) issued a news release stating that opioid (painkiller) risks outweigh the benefits when administered for back pain.

Some of the most popular opiates, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, include hydrocodone (Vicodin), oxycodone (OxyContin and Percocet), morphine, and codeine. Figures provided by the AAN cite the fact that roughly 50% of the patients taking these types of substances for a period of three months are still dependent on them five years later. This can further complicate the issue of back pain and healing, particularly if an opiate dependency occurs.

Compare that to chiropractic care which incorporates natural healing and the advantages are clear. While a medication might be useful at briefly reducing the discomfort of a health issue, it's not a solution to the problem. A drug won't mend your damaged spine; it will only mask the pain.

How Can Chiropractic Therapy Help You?

Dr. Six will first examine you to get to the root of your back problems and then work with you to solve the problem -- without the need for risky medications.
